Qualified, Relate-trained therapist with more than 10 years experience

How I work – theoretical approach:

I am an integrative therapist; I work systemically looking at the interactions, roles and  circumstances in which problems emerge in relationships and how we communicate better to resolve them, and psychodynamically to identify some of the more unconscious drivers that may be affecting how we form and maintain relationships.

I take a collaborative approach and can work on both a short and long-term basis dependent on your needs. My role is to support you to realise self-knowledge but to also intervene positively to help you develop your own expertise in solving problems.

All psychotherapists and counsellors will talk about relationships but not all specialise in relationships.

How I work – ethics & confidentiality:

I work to the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Association of Family Therapy (AFT) and have regular Criminal Records Bureau checks. I comply with data protection legislation and maintain the security of all client information. I do not share information from or about my clients except in very exceptional circumstances where there may be good reason to be concerned about issues of safety, particularly if related to a vulnerable individual. As an ethical practitioner, I receive regular supervision in accordance with BACP guidance, where client confidentiality is always maintained.

My background:

Before becoming a relationship therapist, I was a communications and PR consultant for more than 17 years in the UK and overseas. I worked with a range of businesses and organisations advising on how they might be better understood by their customers and stakeholders; ultimately helping them to communicate and engage with them more effectively. At its heart, communications is a people, relationships and storytelling business and I have often found my experience within this collaborative and consultative environment invaluable in my work as a therapist.
